Shangri-La joins Light the Way for Mental Health Project; 1,000 green bulb distribution underway

Originally created by York County Human Services in York County, Pennsylvania, Shangri-La is bringing the Light the Way for Mental Health Project to Oregon.

The project is simple. During the month of May - Mental Health Health Awareness Month -- place a green light in your home, place of business, school, or church. The green lights placed throughout the community serve as a reminder that mental health matters and that eliminating the stigmas associated with mental illness is necessary for a healthy and vibrant community.

Through partnership with Columbia Bank and West Salem Ace Hardware, Shangri-La will be distributing 1,000 free green bulbs throughout the month of April and early May. Each bulb features project information as well as information aimed at educating the community about mental health and mental illness.

Shangri-La has also created a poster that can be downloaded from the project's webpage and displayed alongside the green bulb.

Shangri-La will be at the following events to distribute free green bulbs while supplies last.
