Nonprofit human services organization helping individuals with disabilities or disadvantages reach their full potential.
Simply put,
we're better together.
Contributions help strengthen Shangri-La's ability to fulfill its mission, to go above and beyond meeting basic needs, and to create communities where all people accepted for their abilities.
Greatest Need Giving
Shangri-La's needs are as unique and as ever-changing as the thousands of individuals served each year. A greatest need gift gives us the most flexibility in putting your donation to use to:
-
support day-to-day operational needs,
-
respond to an urgent or unexpected need,
-
or set it aside for a large project.

Shangri-La reserves the right to appropriate donor contributions to the organization's greatest need, at any time, as a means of attaining mission stability, unless expressed in writing by the donor to: community@shangrila-or.org.
"Shangri-La cared for my sister Kelley for over 50 years.
They provided a place where she could learn and flourish and be happy. They care so deeply for their clients. Even though Kelley passed away
in 2018, I continue to donate to Shangri-La so that others can
benefit from all the good that they do."

Better Together monthly giving community
The Better Together Giving Community understands that helping individuals with disabilities or families with disadvantages thrive at home, at work, and in the community requires an on-going and consistent commitment to Shangri-La's mission and vision.
Better Together Giving Community members commit to making a recurring donation, typically monthly, of at least $10.
Donors can select to have their recurring donation deducted automatically via debit, credit or ACH transaction, or send their recurring donation by mail.

Care Package Project
What’s a Care Package?
Shangri-La’s Care Package Project provides basic household items and personal care essentials to individuals served by Shangri-La.
Who Receives a Care Package?
Care packages go to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) or individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) who are entering Shangri-La’s services with very few personal belongings -- sometimes from homelessness/houselessness, the Oregon State Hospital, or other adverse living situations. Other individuals receive a care package when moving to a more independent living environment.
Why is a Care Package Important?
Care packages aim to provide a sense of hope, safety, and a new beginning for the individuals that receive them. These items lay the foundation for turning a house into a home.
Build a Care Package
Select the type of care package(s) you want to build: personal care, cleaning, bathroom, or kitchen. Fulfill the items on the list within 30 days. We will pick-up the supplies. Wish list will provide care packages for two people.

"I think as humans we have an obligation to help people reach their potential, no matter what that potential is. Shangri-La is all about helping people be productive members of society, without judging what that looks like for them, and that’s something I can get behind.
